A organização do Emmy 2018 anunciou na manhã desta quinta (12) os indicados a premiação. O seriado Game of Thrones, que chega a sua 7ª temporada, bateu o recorde total da premiação, ultrapassando a série ER. Apenas nesta temporada, a atração da HBO recebeu 22 indicações.
Na história do Emmy, Game of Thrones chega a 129 indicações, ultrapassando ER, que ficou 15 anos no ar (1994 – 2009). Na atual edição, outros programas que se destacaram foram Atlanta, que entre os seriados de comédia lidera com 16 indicações, e mais uma vez uma produção da franquia American Crime Story. O Assassinato de Gianni Versace recebeu 18 indicações, sendo a principal competidora entre as minisséries.
Outro programa que se destacou foi Westworld, o novo sucesso da HBO. A ficção científica emplacou concorrentes nas principais categorias, incluindo Melhor Seriado de Drama, Melhor Ator e Melhor Atriz.
